Another Fun Alumni Event...

New pics added to flickr from last night! We had 16 Alumni attend + some guests. I've uploaded some pics that I took. If anyone has any they'd like to share, please e-mail them to me. We started at Elliott BAy & ended up at Mick Kelly's. We'd like to make this an annual event. We will keep you posted!
Have an amazing rest of your summer!

Something NEW*****

I just created a flickr account for our alumni pics!!! I'm limited to how many pics I can post for now, so the ones I put up first were from the pre-reunion party last year.
Find it at: www.flickr.com/photos/jfkclassof1988/
I've been trying to upload a slideshow for the blog home page, but it fails to pull up our account. Grrr. So until THAT works, please click on the link.
ENJOY!!!

Social Media:

Hmmm. Social media has its advantages. However, if you are viewing these sites on a PC, be sure to have GREAT anti-virus software, but beware. We have employees where I work that used to check their Facebooks on our non-business computer. We have since had to ban these sites because even with GREAT software, some viruses just snuck through. This can create a nightmare situation, and a heavy cost to fix.

Although I now use a MAC at home, for those who have asked, NO I personally do NOT have a Facebook page. I think I signed up for one before the reunion last year, but have no recollection of the name I used, password, etc. I have since changed my personal e-mail too, so have no way to retrieve it, and have NO intention of signing up for one. I simply don't have the time.

I do know that many of you DO have one, and if you are comfortable with these types of programs, I encourage you to make "friends" with our alumni so that you can continue to keep in touch.

All the best,
Heather

This Saturday!!!

I can't believe it's already August! Hope everyone enjoyed the July HEAT wave, and now August 8th is a day away! WOW. Time really does fly by. Remember, the crew is providing limited food for the event with some of our leftover funds from last year! Hope to see you!!

2009 Summer EVENT!

One month from TODAY!!!
August 8th...
6:30-12...
Elliott Bay Brewery in Burien...
BE THERE!!!!
We've reserved the same room (I think), and we'll be there to mingle (& drink & eat too!) The "book" of Alumni will not be ready. (Unfortunately, the printer & I just couldn't coordinate to get it done in time.)
It will still be a fun evening, so stop by for a bit and say "Hi".

We did send out a reminder e-mail to those who are on our Alumni-list. If you didn't get one, & would like to be added to our list, please let us know by leaving a comment below.

See you on the 8th!

Are you done yet???

Hope everyone is doing well!
Just got an e-mail asking if the booklet is done yet...And the answer is still "No" :(
Work, among other things, keeps getting in the way unfortunately. With the get-together approaching, I do hope to have it done, and to the printer, with enough time to have them available then.
I'll keep you posted.

Is it summer yet???

I know they said March came in like a lion, but seriously...aren't you all ready for summer? We definately are, and with the thought of summer coming, we are planning an informal get together for local alums. Date and place TBA. We will keep you posted via this blog and we will also send out a mass e-mail for those of you we have on file.
I've checked into creating a facebook/myspace page to keep in touch with people, but since they are the WORST places to attract spam and viruses, I've decided against it. So, I hope there are still at least a few people who view this blog and can get the info when we post it.
We will also let the alumni association at JFK know, and have them post it on their site.
Happy Friday the 13th!!!

OMG...It's almost February!!!

Well...I can't believe it's been 6 months. I feel as though I've blinked once, and let time fly by. I still look back and think, "Holy %^*#!!! I can't believe it's been 20 years, and I can't believe the event has come and gone."
As for any news to report...there's nothing from our end. We would love for this site to remain 'active', but we just aren't getting many responses, or e-mails. I have forwarded on requests for contact info for those of you who have asked. If you still need that type of info, let me know. I have switched my home computer to a MAC, and have put our publication on hold, so that I can get better aquainted with the new system. (No, I haven't forgot about it.) More details on that to come...
We have a wonderful account set up with some 'seed money' for the next alumni who would like to step up to plan our next event...ANY TAKERS????

And so the Publication begins...

I have started to compile all of your information for our publication. The layout will continue, so if you haven't sent in you response to our questions...THERE IS STILL TIME!!! I will keep a deadline update here, and let you know when it will be too late. If some of you don't send anything in, I will only include your name, and city you currently live in...so that there is at least something next to your photo.

Deadline EXTENDED...

Hello ALL!
I'm so sorry that this info never got posted to the site. For some reason my security settings got changed, and I had been unable to launch it from any computer. Now that it's remedied...Here's the info:
We hope you've fully recouperated, and the shock has worn off from the reunion. We truly had fun with all that was involved in the event. We continue to add information to the blog, so be sure to check it out. (Remember...it will remain up for a long time!) SO many of you requested a list of our Alumni, so that we could keep in touch, or to simply find out about those who you were unable to connect with at the reunion. We're in the process of compiling a fun way for this to come true. We are asking that each of you who paid for tickets to the reunion to fill out this brief questionaire and get it back to us NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 10th. Remember the pics I took of you in front of the back-drop with the balloons? Yes...those will be used too! If for any reason I didn't get a pic of you (Lori & Adam..please), or you were unable to attend, please send me a recent pic for this project. Copy the questions to your reply e-mail, and fill out your answers. THIS WILL BE A LOT OF FUN FOR EVERYONE!!!!
#1. What did you do after High School?
#2. Are you married? Date? Kids? Names & Ages?
#3. What is your career/profession/passion?
#4. What is your best High School memory?
#5. What was your biggest surprise at the 10yr/20yr reunion?
#6. We will be publishing your personal information (only to be distributed to those Alumni who purchased tickets to the reunion). Can we use your...address/phone/e-mail? Please include what we can publish.
If you have any questions about our questions, or need more information, please reply...But remember...the DEADLINE FOR THIS HAS TO BE OCTOBER 10th!

We've heard from about 1/3 of those who attended. If you simply can't reply by the 15th, your photo will be all that is published. We'd like to get as many of you to reply, so PLEASE e-mail us the info soon!!!
I also sent another e-mail to everyone today...so look for that too!

In the next week, please look for it if you attended our reunion. We will be asking for a reply NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 1st...more info to come!

This JUST IN...

We are pleased to announce that our class was able to make a donation of $252 in memorium of our lost classmates, to the new Dillman Center at JFK (www.kennedyhs.org). Thanks for donating the night of our reunion. You can still make check donations sent directly to JFK. On the memo line, state "Class of '88 Memorium". We are waiting to hear from the school for updates on this construction project that will provide a new place for students to hang out in.

Also, directly from JFK...
Exciting News: all Kennedy Football regular season games will be broadcast live over the Internet beginning with this Saturday’s opening game at Qwest Field vs. Kentwood. This is reportedly a Seattle and Washington State first for a high school to stream live its entire season. You can tune into http://www.waldcast.net/ to hear the games. You will need to download Quick Time, which is available on the site, to be able to listen to the games. We have contracted with a seasoned California broadcaster, Ronnie Wald, who will handle the play by play this season. If you can’t attend the games, plan to tune in.
Qwest Field Game: The Lancers are playing in the Emerald City Kick Off Classic tomorrow, September 6th at 5:30pm vs. Kentwood. Prior to the game, from 3pm until 5pm, the Alumni Association is hosting a Pre Game gathering at the King Street Bar and Grill directly north of Qwest Field on King Street. The Alumni Association is providing beer, pizza, and pasta for all that attend. There is no charge for this event and the King Street B & G is family friendly. I hope to see a number of you there; the weather is supposed to be superb.
20 Year Football Reunion: If you played football or were associated with the program for one year or all four from day one until 1989, plan to join us September 20th before, during, and after the 1:30pm contest vs. Evergreen. The former players will assemble prior to the game, be recognized at half time, then head back to the School for a family oriented BBQ after the conclusion of the game. Additional info will be forthcoming from the Alumni Relations Office.
Mike Utley DAM2DAM Bike Ride: once again the Alumni Association is participating and entering a team in the DAM2DAM Bike Ride September 27th in Wenatchee. You can get information and register to ride at: www.mikeutley.org/biketour.html. There will be an Alumni Association booth at the Ride. When you register, register under the Kennedy Alumni name. All folks registered under that name will receive a Kennedy Alumni, Mike Utley DAM2DAM shirt. If you have any questions regarding any of these events, please contact myself (Jeff Crompe) or Gregg in the Alumni Office

Photo Request...

Who took the pics of classmates from local grade schools (OLG, etc...) at our reunion? Could you let me know? I have someone who would like a copy.
THANKS!!!
