And so the Publication begins...

I have started to compile all of your information for our publication. The layout will continue, so if you haven't sent in you response to our questions...THERE IS STILL TIME!!! I will keep a deadline update here, and let you know when it will be too late. If some of you don't send anything in, I will only include your name, and city you currently live in...so that there is at least something next to your photo.

Deadline EXTENDED...

Hello ALL!
I'm so sorry that this info never got posted to the site. For some reason my security settings got changed, and I had been unable to launch it from any computer. Now that it's remedied...Here's the info:
We hope you've fully recouperated, and the shock has worn off from the reunion. We truly had fun with all that was involved in the event. We continue to add information to the blog, so be sure to check it out. (Remember...it will remain up for a long time!) SO many of you requested a list of our Alumni, so that we could keep in touch, or to simply find out about those who you were unable to connect with at the reunion. We're in the process of compiling a fun way for this to come true. We are asking that each of you who paid for tickets to the reunion to fill out this brief questionaire and get it back to us NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 10th. Remember the pics I took of you in front of the back-drop with the balloons? Yes...those will be used too! If for any reason I didn't get a pic of you (Lori & Adam..please), or you were unable to attend, please send me a recent pic for this project. Copy the questions to your reply e-mail, and fill out your answers. THIS WILL BE A LOT OF FUN FOR EVERYONE!!!!
#1. What did you do after High School?
#2. Are you married? Date? Kids? Names & Ages?
#3. What is your career/profession/passion?
#4. What is your best High School memory?
#5. What was your biggest surprise at the 10yr/20yr reunion?
#6. We will be publishing your personal information (only to be distributed to those Alumni who purchased tickets to the reunion). Can we use your...address/phone/e-mail? Please include what we can publish.
If you have any questions about our questions, or need more information, please reply...But remember...the DEADLINE FOR THIS HAS TO BE OCTOBER 10th!

We've heard from about 1/3 of those who attended. If you simply can't reply by the 15th, your photo will be all that is published. We'd like to get as many of you to reply, so PLEASE e-mail us the info soon!!!
I also sent another e-mail to everyone today...so look for that too!

This JUST IN...

We are pleased to announce that our class was able to make a donation of $252 in memorium of our lost classmates, to the new Dillman Center at JFK (www.kennedyhs.org). Thanks for donating the night of our reunion. You can still make check donations sent directly to JFK. On the memo line, state "Class of '88 Memorium". We are waiting to hear from the school for updates on this construction project that will provide a new place for students to hang out in.

Also, directly from JFK...
Exciting News: all Kennedy Football regular season games will be broadcast live over the Internet beginning with this Saturday’s opening game at Qwest Field vs. Kentwood. This is reportedly a Seattle and Washington State first for a high school to stream live its entire season. You can tune into http://www.waldcast.net/ to hear the games. You will need to download Quick Time, which is available on the site, to be able to listen to the games. We have contracted with a seasoned California broadcaster, Ronnie Wald, who will handle the play by play this season. If you can’t attend the games, plan to tune in.
Qwest Field Game: The Lancers are playing in the Emerald City Kick Off Classic tomorrow, September 6th at 5:30pm vs. Kentwood. Prior to the game, from 3pm until 5pm, the Alumni Association is hosting a Pre Game gathering at the King Street Bar and Grill directly north of Qwest Field on King Street. The Alumni Association is providing beer, pizza, and pasta for all that attend. There is no charge for this event and the King Street B & G is family friendly. I hope to see a number of you there; the weather is supposed to be superb.
20 Year Football Reunion: If you played football or were associated with the program for one year or all four from day one until 1989, plan to join us September 20th before, during, and after the 1:30pm contest vs. Evergreen. The former players will assemble prior to the game, be recognized at half time, then head back to the School for a family oriented BBQ after the conclusion of the game. Additional info will be forthcoming from the Alumni Relations Office.
Mike Utley DAM2DAM Bike Ride: once again the Alumni Association is participating and entering a team in the DAM2DAM Bike Ride September 27th in Wenatchee. You can get information and register to ride at: www.mikeutley.org/biketour.html. There will be an Alumni Association booth at the Ride. When you register, register under the Kennedy Alumni name. All folks registered under that name will receive a Kennedy Alumni, Mike Utley DAM2DAM shirt. If you have any questions regarding any of these events, please contact myself (Jeff Crompe) or Gregg in the Alumni Office

Photo Request...

Who took the pics of classmates from local grade schools (OLG, etc...) at our reunion? Could you let me know? I have someone who would like a copy.
THANKS!!!

What I learned at the reunion...

Catching up with friends after 20 years is a lot to take in. They say all you need to know you learn in Kindergarten...Well these are things I learned after attending a 20 year reunion:
1. Without all of the lunch tables set up, the cafeteria is much bigger than I remember it.

2. Cafeteria food doesn't suck after all...yes, we had the party catered through the cafeteria. (Thanks Peggy!)

3. You CAN drink alcohol (legally) in the cafeteria!

4. You really can marry your high school sweetheart! Way to go Katie & Tom, Marnie & Tom, Adam & Lori, Nick & Linda, and you too John & Karen! (Please let me know if I missed anyone.)

Of all the pics I do have of Adam with others, I don't have one of Lori & Adam. (If anyone has one, can you send it to me? THANKS!)
5. It's still fun to listen and dance to "Hits of the 80's".

6. If you plan on attending an event that requires you to be on your feet for 13 hours...don't wear boots!...(But do wear socks if you plan to take your boots off...at least I did that :)

5. Tony Nogales lives right down the street from me!

What did you learn? E-mail us a comment to this post, and we'll share :)

And the pics keep coming...

Thanks for sending in your pics! We are definately going to do something with them, so you can all enjoy them. We will also be sending out a mass e-mail with specific requests to go along with the photos, so look for that in the next week or so. For now, enjoy!

If you missed out...

I know there was a lot to talk about at our events, and you may not have been able to chat with everyone. And, for those of you who couldn't make it at all...If you'd like to get in touch with us, or mention what you're up to...put a comment attached to this post, and we'll publish it for others to view. It is the safest way to add your e-mail, since regular posts seem to get spam attached to them. I continue to mention the jfkclassof88@gmail.com one because I already get spam on it, so it doesn't matter if it is viewed by all.
You can also continue to comment on older posts too. As I stated before, we will be gathering everyone's e-mail, and we'll get them to people sometime next month.
Someone has also mentioned "Facebook", which would be an idea. We'd just have to get a lot of people to start accounts on their own. Any other suggestions...let us know.

The day after...

I can't believe it's over! We had the best time!!!

We had a few RSVP'd Alumni not attend, and additions at the door. We ended up with 95 Alumni, and a total of 154 guests. For those who couldn't make it, we missed you, and you missed out on a great evening. Although it was supposed to end at midnight, Maari & I left around 1:30 accompanied by the last few guests - Chris, Jeff, John, Dusty, Derek, & Jim.

We cannot express how much fun we had planning, and being there for this once in a lifetime experience! It could not have been the success that it was without all of you that came. We ended up with plenty of food, and the alcohol held it's own too. It was hot and it was loud. (THE BAND WAS FABULOUS!) A tremendous THANKS to "Burien City Ballbangers". YOU ROCKED!

Every bone in my body hurts. I didn't sit the entire day, but it was so worth it! I ended up with just under 300 pictures! Please e-mail us some of yours. I know many of you took quite a few too. I'd like to get as many as I can by September 14th. (You'll find out why a few weeks after that :)

It was great that some of you brought additional memorabilia. I am going to take some time to copy some of the videos to DVD, so we can have those memories for years to come. It was fun to look through the pics too. I hope you all had time to look through them. (If you left anything behind, Maari took them home, and will contact you.)

I had a lot of people ask about e-mail lists so that we can all keep in touch. Once I've absorbed everything that has happened over the last few days, I will gather them all together and figure out the best way to get them to you. Thanks again to all who came from out of the area. It was unexpected, and appreciated that you made the trip.

Although it was a lot of work, I had such a great time, that I would definately do it again. Maybe a little simpler, but, yes...I think I would definately do it again!

We'll keep this blog and our e-mail account jfkclassof88@gmail.com open as long as there remains interest in it. Feel free to send information requests here, and I'll do my best to comply. I would be happy to remain an alumni information liason for our class.

I won't ever forget this experience. Thanks again!
